About the project
The goal of the first stage of the Homes for Hope project is to build a Earthen Solar homes in the Philippines on the Island of Palawan. .that is powered by renewable solar energy and is designed to withstand typhoons.
Once the first solar home is built, the second stage of the project will be to expand and build additional homes in the planned community, with the first home turning into a community center that can be used as a medical clinic, school or vocational training facility. At this stage, the project team will partner with Engineers Without Borders and All homes will be engineered and designed to withstand typhoons and eliminate the need for fossil fuels with the use of solar power, a renewable and sustainable source of energy.
The community will be self-sufficient, and sustainably anchored by utilizing gray water recycling and vertical farming. Solar power greatly reduces the reliance on coal and fossil fuel for power.
In total, this project will last around 5-7 years.
